District 20-K1 Governor's Message
Greetings Lions and Leos:
With great enthusiasm, I welcome you to the 2010-2011 Lionistic Year. I would
like to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to lead this great and
vibrant District.
This year began with historic accomplishments, most notably the election of PDG Douglas X. Alexander, as the first International Director from 20-K1. Congratulations to ID Doug and to our District. I also wish to congratulate First Vice District Governor Gloria V. Askew, and Second Vice District Governor Clarence R. A. Higgins, who were elected to their respective positions. I thank all Cabinet officers and Members who have agreed to serve.
We must continue to strengthen our District by the continued support of our existing clubs and the formation of new clubs. As we continue our Lionistic journey of service this year, let us individually, and as a group, recommit ourselves to service. There are four Global Service Action Campaigns in which Lions may participate – Youth, Sight, Hunger, and the Environment. The goal is for each club to complete at least one major service project this year.
Our programs for this year include: District wide Membership Drive, Club Contest, Clothing Drive, District Feeding, District Retreat in November, Food Drive, Applying for Grants, Hypertension Awareness, Leos/Youth Services, Sickle Cell Awareness and upgrading our District Website.
Lions and Leos of District 20-K1, together, “Let’s Create a Brighter Future” for the less fortunate in our community, the nation, and the world. I hereby challenge every Lion and Leo in our District to rise to the call for service by being “A Beacon of Hope” for someone in need. Shine Your Light!!
Yours in Lionism
Pauline C. Francis District Governor, 2010-2011
